Boomer Helms Story

I was born and raised on a farm in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The farm was nestled between the north and south forks of the Santiam Rivers. Thomas Creek was on one end of the farm winding its way into the south Santiam River, while on the other end of the farm was a natural spring, named Spring Branch, that flowed into the north Santiam River. There was a 14 acre reservoir that my grandpa Helms put in on the farm back in the early 1960s, and a couple of small ponds on the farm as well. This gave the farm plenty of water to irrigate the crops, and gave me plenty of places to explore, fish and hunt! The farm and the rivers were lined with groves of oak trees and cottonwood trees along with many other native deciduous and evergreens. The silty loam soil was rich in nutrients, and provided some of the best soil around for farming. This made for not just the best place to grow up but one of the best places to have a farm. My life and my families’ lives were nothing short of adventure, struggles, hardships, good times, hard work, prosperity, fun, love, and FAITH!

I loved working, playing, and living, on the farm along with admiring the beauty that God created when He placed that farm between the forks of the Santiam Rivers. My life on that farm was one that is worth telling and putting into words. Not just mine, but my entire families’ life story is so very interesting. If it weren’t, I would not have written a book about it that’s for sure. I was blessed to have been raised, worked and lived on Helms Bros. Farms.

While being raised there I learned at a very young age to work hard and play hard too! And to this day that is how I continue to live my life. Also, I was and still am quite a character and love to make people laugh. My two older sisters, a multitude of cousins and friends can attest to that.

I also have a love, a passion and a gift from God for creating, building and being artistic. This was something that I discovered at a young age as well. I believe that trait was passed down to me from my momma, and her mother, my grandma Roth. Being creative is something that we all have enjoyed throughout our lives. I loved it so much that in college I minored in horticulture and majored in graphic design. I have owned my own graphic design business and still own a wood working business where I sell original work and customized work as well. As you will see some of my work is for sale on this website if you go to the “Shop” button.

Last but not least… I want to thank you for your time, interest, and support of my business! I also want to say how very grateful and thankful I am that God has blessed me in every aspect of my life. Without Him I can do nothing! It is all by His design, love and grace!
